Police arrested four suspected members of a crowbar gang linked to brazen burglaries in Strandfontein (“Thieves caught on viral videos”, Plainsman July 31).
Flying Squad officers stopped the silver Toyota Etios with no licence plates in Mandela Park, Harare, on Wednesday July 31 at 1pm, according to Western Cape police spokesman Sergeant George Mjiwu. However, the car sped off and hit a lamppost in Govan Mbeki Street.
Police found a crowbar, hammer and screwdrivers in the car and arrested four men, aged 19 to 21, for possession of burglary tools, reckless and negligent driving and the possession of stolen property.
A joint operation by the police and army in Tafelsig, Eastridge and Beacon Valley on Tuesday July 30 saw eight people arrested, most of them on drug related charges and one for attempted murder.
