Supporting women

■ Woodlands Women’s Support group held a belated celebration of International Women’s Day, at Westridge Gardens on Wednesday March 21 (Human Rights Day). They entertained more than 100 children with sports activities and served them refreshments. The day is annually celebrated around the world on March 8, with women’s rights being the focal point, which was adopted by the United Nations in 1975. Two years later, the United Nations General Assembly proposed the date to be known as the UN Day for women’s rights and world peace.
