Unemployed youth who need career guidance, students in need of financial aid, and youth who need help preparing their curriculum vitae can attend a “post school study, funding and training opportunities seminar and job readiness summit” at Spine Road High School, in Rocklands on Tuesday March 27, from 1.30pm until 3.30pm.
The Youth Unemployment Prevention Project (YUPP) will also host the first Job Readiness Summit, which coincides, with the launch of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Youth Employment Services (YES).
The programme is set to empower one million young people over the next three years to become economically active.
Yupp director Faiez Dollie said details of the service and how the youth can access it will be provided at the seminar.
“Youth seeking employment are therefore encouraged to attend so they can hear from career advisers, placement officers and potential employers how to prepare themselves for the work opportunities that the service will provide, as well as the jobs currently available which youth wish to apply for,” he said.
Youth seeking employment will also be able to register for free job seeking, career guidance and work readiness workshops and programmes.
There are more than 300 study opportunities across more than 20 courses, which school leavers and unemployed youth can still apply for this year.
Application forms will be available at the seminar. Mr Dollie said there were bursaries available for all of these courses, which will be explained at the seminar.
“There will also be able to hear about the learnerships available from the SETAs, and where and how to apply,” he said.
Participants will also be able to register their details on the learnership database at the seminar.
Mr Dollie said the goal of the seminar was to provide youth with information about the various employment, education, funding and training opportunities available to them. Registration starts at 1.30pm.
The event is free and parents and guardians are also encouraged to attend.
Seats are limited. To reserve a seat, WhatsApp or SMS your name, surname and contact details to 079 622 0934 or email your details to email@example.com.
