■ The Calvyn Protestant Church in Portland conducted an outreach project in Namibia from Sunday August 21 to Sunday August 27. Forty church members and three ministers, among them Christo Present, Deon Jantjies, Michael Osiako and Debbie Fransman, went to Namibia. Ms Fransman said the parishioners handed over food hampers, luxuries and shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “What a wonderful feeling to observe grateful hearts, smiling faces and yes, tears flowing from deep inside,” she said. “Fellowship was the essence of the day, enjoying tea with the elderly, listening to their stories, realising how their faith sustains them through difficult times and how a loving God provides their every need. It was school holidays; the children enjoyed our presence, embraced the attention and could tell that our president is Jacob Zuma upon hearing that we are from South Africa,” she said.
