Rocklands High School’s social club participated in a boeber run in Wynberg to reach out to people living on the street.
Pupils were tasked with knowing the names and backgrounds of at least three people they met living on the street on Wednesday August 24.
They went bearing gifts, sandwiches, fruit and boeber (a warm sweet milk drink) and spent the evening with people less fortunate than themselves.
The club meets twice a term in an attempt to do something extra for the school’s morale.
Teacher Irafaan Abrahams told the Plainsman it is an extension of relationships they have had with Belgravia Islamic Society, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), Gift of the Givers, Two Oceans marathon and Strandfontein Church.
“It is all about building relationships, breaking barriers and seeing what you can do for the next person.”
