The Liberated Christian Centre in Westridge held its annual holiday programme from Monday January 6 to Friday January 10 at the hall above OK mini mark at BP garage in Westridge.
They feed over 70 children every day, providing breakfast, lunch and snacks, said senior Pastor Kissinger Frempong.
On Thursday January 9, secretary of the Mitchell’s Plain Community Police Forum, Lynn Phillips, visited the children with the chairperson of Westridge CPF sub-forum Bonita Wood.
Ms Phillips spoke to the children about staying safe in their community.
They also had nurses, policemen, and pastors talking to the children and spoke about domestic violence, safety in the community as well as touching on the history of South Africa.
“These programmes are needed for our children. It is educational and informative to them. We get to know the children and even their parents as it is important to build those relationships with them,” said Mr Frempong.
