Rocklands actor Joshwin Dyson, 20, who was part of the Hostel Lights show staged at the Zabalaza Theatre Festival at the Baxter Theatre won the award for Most Promising Actor.
The show also won the Best Script Award. Their director, Sohail Booise, won Best Director.
Hostel Lights, which will run for two weeks at the Baxter later this year, is about four high school boys living at a hostel together – and then one gets into trouble. The play sends out a message of unity and being there for the people you love.
“I really feel blessed to have won this award with my cast members Marunzo Thomas, Jason Olivier, William Adams, Jo- Melia Mekeur and with our director Sohail Booise. It was really an honour winning the award because we worked so hard,” said Joshwin.
