Reaching out

When Shanaaz Simpson noticed how many children in her community were hungry, she wanted to do something about it. So she started The Simpson’s Reaching Out to the Needy in 2016.

Through the non-profit organisation, she started serving lunch and snacks to the elderly. “My heart opened to my community. I made sure I leaped at the opportunity to apply for something like this and registered the NPO.”

And as time went by, more people started coming to her for assistance.

“It’s my passion to do this,” she said.

“I love giving to the community. I also gave and served at Tafelsig Primary School.”

NPO member Ricardo Marcus, said working with the organisation had changed him.

“I used to skarrel and now I don’t anymore. Ever since I joined the NPO it has changed me. It’s nice to see the people with a smile when we work. Some of them will walk in the street and call and say hello uncle Ricardo, and to all of us,” he said.

They feed the community from Monday to Thursday. For more information email
