Pupils strut their stuff at Heritage Day Festival

Pupils Esam Ndesi and Sihle Siyo from Highlands Primary School in Woodlands.

More than 600 pupils showed off things they have learnt during after-school programmes, at the second annual Heritage Day Festival at Glendale High School, in Rocklands, on Monday September 25.

Metro South Education District (MSED), the Progressive Principals’ Association (PPA) and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport joined hands to host 30 schools, presenting song, dance, artwork and poetry.

Event coordinator Ruschda O’Shea, principal of Tafelsig High School, said it was all about creating a platform for pupils’ talents, and urged low- and no-fee schools to run extra-curricular activities.

Ms O’Shea thanked all the principals, teachers and Mass participation, Opportunity and access, Development and growth (MOD) programme facilitators for supporting the pupils.
