Prisoner truck in collision with taxi

A police truck carrying prisoners collided with a minibus taxi on the corner of Spine and Eisleben roads, Rocklands, last Friday.

Mitchell’s Plain police are calling for witnesses after a collision in Rocklands involving a police truck transporting prisoners to Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court and a minibus taxi.

The accident occurred at 8.30am on Friday September 22 on the corner of Spine and Eisleben roads in Rocklands when a police truck, which was carrying 43 prisoners, collided with the taxi. The taxi, which had 18 passengers, allegedly jumped a red robot before colliding with the truck.

No prisoners escaped while all the injured were taken for medical treatment.

One person was described as being seriously injured.

Police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving.
