Mitchell’s Plain Midwife Obstetrics Unit (MOU) at the Mitchell’s Plain Community Health Centre (MPCHC) in partnership with The Zoe Project taught expecting mothers about health and safe motherhood for Pregnancy Awareness Week.

The Mitchell’s Plain MOU and The Zoe Project spoke to the expecting mothers on Thursday February 16 on how to keep their baby safe, exercise, how to take care of their child and themselves, nutrition and preparing for birth.

MPCHC social worker Rene Daniels said: “We celebrate your journey with you. You may feel anxious at this time but you are not alone. This is a time of your life you need to embrace, don’t suffer in silence, speak to us we are here for you.”

Zoe Project founder Tracy Aitken made the mothers touch their tummies, expressing love to their babies who can hear them from within their tummies.

Sister Chillestine Hackley, health promoter, shared health tips with the mothers.
