Police seize drugs

Two men appeared in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court earlier this week in separate incidents of being in possession of drugs.

A 41-year-old man was caught with 160 heroin straws and 10 bank packets containing tik when he was stopped and searched during a crime prevention operation on Sunday January 5 in Harvester Street, Westridge, at 2.10pm. Mitchell’s Plain police station spokesman Captain Ian Williams said the man was a gangster.

In the other incident, a 40-year-old man was arrested after he was stopped and searched in Wemmershoek Street, Tafelsig, on Sunday at 3.34pm.

Police confiscated 15 half-mandrax tablets and four whole tablets.

Both men face charges of being in possession of drugs.
