Mitchell’s Plain police made a number of arrests related to firearms and drugs last Thursday.
The first, at 11.20am, was the arrest of a 29-year-old man in a VW Golf at Liberty Promenade who had been found to be in possession of a firearm with its serial number filed off, a magazine and 13 9mm rounds.
The man faces charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and will appear in court soon.
On the same day at 5pm, two men involved in a shooting in Cascade Street, Tafelsig, were arrested and charged with attempted murder, and possession of firearms and ammunition.
Police seized a black 9mm pistol with its serial number filed off, and a magazine containing 11, 45mm live rounds.
An hour later, police confiscated 25 units of unga, 21 full mandrax pills, three half mandrax tablets and four packets of tik as well as R8 382 cash at a house in Tsitsikamma Street, Tafelsig. Police arrested a man, 37, who faces charges of drug possession.
