Silversands Trefoil Guild garnered another three members who promised to do their best, to do their duty to their God and to their country.
The guild is for any woman, aged 18 and older, who would like to be of service and is member to the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), one of the biggest international youth volunteer organisations.
This is the older branch of girl guides but the group based in Portland would like to encourage young women to join their ranks.
They aim to keep alive the spirit of the Guide Promise and Laws; to carry that promise into the community in which Guild members live and work; and to give support to guiding.
The guild’s main focus for the year is to collect sanitary towels which they will donate to schools in the area, to increase awareness of feminine hygiene among young girls.
Their next meeting will be at 27 Colosseum Road, in Portland, at 10.30am on Saturday February 11.
