Open day

■ Oval North Technical High School in Beacon Valley held an open day for the Grade 7 pupils, on Saturday April 7. Pupils learned about opportunities and requirements in civil, mechanical and electrical engineering. More than 400 pupils from different primary schools around Mitchell’s Plain attended the open day. Mechanical engineering teacher, Athina Dennis, said: “This is the blue collar industry and we need to keep these pupils informed and educated. We are moulding and shaping the engineers of tomorrow,” she said. Pictured is Ms Dennis taking Grade 7 pupils through the mechanical workshop.
