Mitchell’s Plain police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder after four men were shot in Westridge.
Just before 9pm on Thursday May 6, Mitchell’s Plain SAPS received a complaint about a shooting in Kweker Street, Westridge. At the scene, police discovered that two men had been shot.
The first victim, aged 45, had sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg. The other, 40 years old, had sustained three gunshot wounds to his left leg.
In an incident believed to be gang-related, it is allegedly that the occupants of a black Golf had shot at people in the road as it drove by. A vehicle was also punctured with bullet holes.
All victims were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Police were informed that two other victims had been shot and were taken to the hospital.
A third man, 36, who had been shot in the head, died in hospital.
A fourth victim was found at hospital, having sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg. Reports also indicate that a white TSI Polo was also implicated in the incident. Police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.

In a separate incident, a body was discovered in the bush along Eisleben Road, Rocklands. It has not been positively identified and arrangements have been made for a second DNA test to be conducted. The investigation is still ongoing, Langa police said.
On Friday April 30 at 6:15am, the Mitchell’s Plain Organised Crime Unit was conducting crime prevention patrols when they received information that a man in a white Kia was in possession of an illegal firearm.
While patrolling in Stella Way, Tafelsig, police spotted the vehicle and when they searched it, found a 9mm firearm with serial number 1664972, and one magazine containing four live rounds. Police arrested the man, 38, who faces charges relating to the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. He is expected to soon appear in court.
