The Mitchell’s Plain health district has a designated Covid-19 Testing and Triage Centre open Monday to Sunday from 7am to 7pm.
The facility is in a tent at the entrance of the hospital, in Lentegeur, for patients to be screened, tested and triaged before accessing hospital services.
Patients will only be tested once the doctor detects signs and symptoms of the coronavirus during the screening process.
On Wednesday April 15 Health MEC Nomafrench Mbombo and Premier Alan Winde attended the opening of one of 17 similar centres in the province.
The centre – which is not one of the community screening and testing sites – has been open to the public since Monday April 20.
“We ask people who have signs and symptoms to access services at the designated screening and testing sites in their area or call the provincial hotline. This is only for those accessing services at the hospital for emergency life-threatening care and adhering to their appointments,” said Ms Mbombo.
For more information call the provincial hotline on 021 928 4102.
