A new Beacon Valley Block A Street Committee was elected on Tuesday October 13.
Chairwoman Warda Mijiet says the group wants to end crime in the area.
“We have big plans for the future. We want to unite our community to its former glory. Criminals are stealing our cables on the field; we cannot see when the lights are out. This is what made us start this group.”
Shameema Adams, the committee’s project manager, thanked the community for selecting the new team.
Deputy chairwoman Raeeza Galant, said they would need the community’s support.
“Our future is in this community. We come from different and broken homes, but we can rise above it. We need positivity; we’re ready to serve you.”
