The Mitchell’s Plain Music Academy had a full house at its third annual concert, having come a long way from a five-year-old banging on the drums to receiving a standing ovation for the members’ performance of Aretha Franklin’s Respect. The students played their solo pieces and performed in bands at the concert on Saturday December 8 at the Jamrock Theatre in Brakenfell. Academy students are taught how to read music and choose a musical instrument of their choice for their practical lessons. Trevino Isaacs, principal of the academy said he was very proud of his students who worked so hard during the year, with some excelling in their practical exams. There were 70 students who performed at the concert on Saturday. Registration for music school is now open for 2019.
