A man with gunshot wounds to the right side of his face was found dead in a bronze Chevrolet Spark which had been left idling on the side of Imperial Road, Eastridge, with its headlights on, around 7pm on Sunday September 1.
There was a bullet hole in the driver’s side window and inside the car were one live round and a silver magazine loaded with five 9mm live rounds.
Police said a man had been spotted jumping out of the rear passenger side door and running down the road after the incident. The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage and no arrests have been made. Police are investigating a case of murder.

A man, 37, believed to be a gang member had been arrested in Kilimanjaro Street, Tafelsig, at 6pm that same day, for possession of an imitation firearm and appeared in court on Wednesday September 4.
The following day, Monday September 2, police arrested a 25-year-old suspected gang member found in possession of a homemade firearm also known as a zip gun. The man had been spotted in Parsifal Street, Eastridge, at about 10.30pm when police chased and caught him. He faces a charge of possession of prohibited firearm and is expected to appear in court soon.
On Thursday September 5, when police searched premises in Cascade Street, Tafelsig, they found seven live rounds of ammunition in a magazine and seven bank packets of dagga. A 33-year-old man who was arrested, faces a charge of unlawful possession of ammunition and drugs. He appeared in court on Friday September 6.
During a late night search, at 10.30pm on Friday September 6, police found 18 half mandrax tablets and 19 packets of tik in Fiat Close, Rocklands. They arrested a 27-year-old man who appeared in court on Monday September 9 on charges of drug possession.A Chevrolet Optra, registration number CA 909961, which was parked in an open garage with its boot open, roused police’s suspicions.
When police tested the vehicle, which was found in Oval East Street, Beacon Valley, on Saturday September 7, it was found to have been stolen in Lentegeur.
Police arrested six people, aged between 19 and 33 years old who face charges of possession of suspected stolen property.
On the same day at 4.45pm, police found 42 whole mandrax tablets 22 packets of tik, three packets of cocaine, two half mandrax tablets and one ecstasy tablet after they received a tip-off that drugs were being sold at a premises in Kweper Street, Westridge. Police arrested a man, 26, who appeared in court on Monday September 9 for dealing in drugs.
Police are also investigating the murder of a man killed in a shooting in Cedar Avenue, Rockland at 6.45am on Sunday August 31.
The man, driving a white 2013 model Toyota Corolla, had been stopped by an unknown man and woman who shot him, took his cellphone and drove off in his vehicle. The man had been wounded in his side and later died on the scene.
Police are investigating a case of murder and no arrests have yet been made.
