A 51-year-old man was left critically injured after a bakkie and motorbike collided on the corner of Baden Powell Drive and Weltevreden Road on Thursday September 1.
Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, said an ER24 paramedic on his way to work came across the incident at around 5.20am.
Mr Meiring said the paramedics found the man lying in the road next to his bike.
“A bakkie was parked just a short distance away. On assessment, paramedics found that the motorcyclist had sustained numerous injuries to both his legs, leaving him in a critical condition. The paramedics treated the patient and provided him with numerous advanced life support interventions,” he said.
Mr Meiring said once treated, the patient, a military employee, was transported to 2 Military Hospital in Wynberg for urgent treatment.
The driver of the bakkie escaped injury.
Mitchell’s Plain police spokesperson Captain Ian Williams confirmed the incident.
