The date for the stakeholders meeting about family violence, to be hosted by the Mitchell’s Plain Community Advice and Development Project (MPCADP), has changed from Friday February 22 to next Tuesday February 26 at 10.30am at Tafelsig library hall.
The MPCADP said they have noticed an increase in the number of parents and grandparents seeking help with the abuse they are experiencing at the hands of their children and or grandchildren.
William Simmers, project co-ordinator for MPCADP, said unemployment, a lack of housing and parenting skills, and substance abuse are the biggest contributors to the social ills in communities like Mitchell’s Plain.
