Portland parents and grandparents attend an information session on measles at Griqua Community Hall on Tuesday March 7. The session was hosted by University of Cape Town fourth year medical students as a part of their health promotion project. Measles is a viral infection prevalent amongst children, which is preventable by vaccine. Symptoms include fever, coughing, runny nose, red watery eyes and a rash, which starts around the ears, face, then spreads to the rest of the body, including the arms and legs. The students advised that should children have any of these symptoms they should be taken to their nearest clinic.
