Mitchell’s Plain residents can be a part of the biggest open air mass fitness session at the 2016 DStv Mitchell’s Plain Festival at Westridge Gardens on Sunday November 27, between 8am and 10am.
The mass work-out coincides with Mitchell’s Plain’s 40th anniversary and the organisers are hoping to attract between 1 500 and 2 000 participants to the workout.
The aim is to encourage healthier lifestyles; increase awareness of chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, heart disease and obesity; to bring fun to exercise; and to encourage regular health checks.
Fitness guru Reemay Damons will be putting participants through their paces. Various spot prizes, valued at more than R10 000, will be up for grabs, including 30-day gym memberships, hotel accommodation and health and beauty products.
Those interested in participating in the mass workout may go to any Shoprite, Checkers, House & Home or Computicket outlets and purchase an ordinary entry ticket to the festival for Sunday.
Participants with known medical conditions are asked to consult their doctors before joining the workshop.
An adult must accompany children younger than 12. Refreshments will be on sale at the festival and various water points will be on site.
For more information, call Mr Damons at 073 699 5340, the festival office on 021 391 0140 or visit their Facebook group, www.facebook.com/MPlainFestival/
