A 38-year-old man was found guilty by the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court and was fined R6 000 for possession of drugs.
Shaheed Davids was arrested on Tuesday April 26 at 12.50am by Mitchell’s Plain Police after being searched in Huisrivier Street, Tafelsig, and being found with packets of tik.
Davids was found guilty on Monday June 6. Failure to pay the fine will see him facing six months direct imprisonment with a suspended five years.
In another case, a 63-year-old man was arrested for possession of ammunition on Thursday June 9 at 7.45pm.
Mitchell’s Plain police were busy patrolling when they received information about illegal firearms and ammunition being kept at a house in Wellingham Street, Westridge.
Police searched the house and found a clear plastic bag with 10 38cm special live ammunition.
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
