The action thriller Stress, the first of a three-part short film series, will be shown at the FoolProof Film Festival.
Stress will be released on Friday October 6 on the Touched By Style Community Arts Project YouTube channel. It will also be hosted at the FoolProof Film Festival in Nelson Mandela Bay on Saturday October 28. FoolProof Entertainment is a registered record label and film production company.
Stress is one of six locally produced movies featured at the film festival and will also be competing in more competitions internationally, said writer and director Nic Matthee.
“The idea behind the story is to highlight the psychological dangers and the internal damage stress can have on a person. Stress puts people at a disadvantage from coping with unbearable and toxic environments in the workplace. This is what the lead character goes through which is a very relatable challenge that exists for many people,” said Mr Matthee, (“Tafelsig actress gets lead role in thriller” Plainsman July 26).
The film project took three months of planning and developing, bringing together creative ideas, minds, teamwork and the support from the communities during the production process, he said.
Co-founder of Touched By Style Community Arts Project, Patrick Lategan, said filming as well as active community development is not easy.
“To make it work you have to make it part of your personality. The more films we create the bigger the opportunity for talented members of the community to shine,” he said.
TBS films is already preparing the sequel to Stress for next year which will focus on the serious subject of bullying, self-harm and self-destruction, said Mr Matthee.
