The Tafelsig Community Action Network (CAN)  and its Change Champions received a donation of basic food items as well as fruit from the Kolisi Foundation.

The group, led by Tafelsig resident  Joanie Fredericks, 50, has 25 champions who are responsible for feeding up to 300 people in their and neighbouring streets daily.

They are members of the umbrella body Cape Town Community Action Network (CAN), which was formed ahead of the lockdown to address food needs in local communities.

Springbok rugby team captain Siya Kolisi and his wife Rachel Kolisi met Ms Fredericks and her team yesterday, Thursday April 23, at her home from where the food is distributed.

“My team was taken by surprise when they saw their hero, Siya and his wife. It was a double blessing. We really appreciate their humility and kindness. He will address the people of Tafelsig soon, watch this space,” said Ms Fredericks.
