Jungle Theatre Company is bringing a double bill of outstanding outdoor performances to beaches along the Fakse Bay coast thanks to the Department of Arts and Culture.
They will perform at Monwabisi Pavilion on Saturday February 11 and Sunday February 12; at Strandfontein Pavilion on Saturday February 18 and Sunday February 19; and Muizenberg Pavilion on Saturday February 25 and Sunday February 26, from 3pm to 5pm.
Butterfly Dreams, the first performance starting at 3pm, is a surreal and larger than life celebration of a girl experiencing the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly.
The second performance, When Lion Had Wings, starts at 4pm.
This show uses daring stilt characterisations, animal masks, original music and Nama language to tell a traditional Khoikhoi folktale.
The Frogs challenge Lion’s greed and lead the animals to discover their talents and restore the balance of nature.
Jungle Theatre Company has developed a style of theatre that is based in clowning, draws from different cultures and is ideal for a family audience.
Take the whole family and a picnic. To find them just follow the sound of drumming. All performances are free.
Donations are welcome.
