The City of Cape Town’s parks and recreation department hosted a three-week holiday programme for up to 400 children in Tafelsig each day with activities such as soccer, pool, board games and chess as well as a focus on life skills using puppet shows to create awareness on what drug and substance abuse are. They also had dance challenges, a performing arts programme and sports activities. The UCT Lung Institute was also involved in the programme as well as the Community Advisory Board from Glendale High School, the Old Apostolic Church Sunday School, community members, the Greater Bulls Disabled Sports Club, Ubuntu Arts and Tafelsig Social Warriors.
