Sheval Arendse, councillor for Ward 82 and chairman of Wolfgat Sub-council
I hosted and supported various June school holiday programmes between Friday June 14 and Monday July 8.
My holiday programme also included “adopt a granny” with 45 grandmothers and 20 orphans at Blue Waters Resort.
I hosted a youth and leadership camp for 30 pupils at Voortrekker Resort in Strand.
I started with this programme for pupils, from Grade 7 to Grade 12.
These pupils were selected from the various schools in Tafelsig.
There were activities with the City of Cape Town’s dog unit, Fire and Rescue services, and other department representatives.
They were taught the danger of fire, how to prevent and control fires.
There were first aid and first responder training, and talks on anti-social behaviour, teenage pregnancy, drug counselling and education on emergency contact numbers.
I also supported daily church holiday programmes at Yellowwood and Searidge Park primary schools.
City officials also held daily sport activities at Tafelsig Community Centre.
The Great Bulls Organisation also kept the youth busy with various games at the Thusong Centre.
