A 24-year-old man was arrested after a husband and wife were attacked and their car hijacked at Mnandi Beach on Saturday May 28, at 4.30pm.
The armed suspect pulled the man out of the car and a struggle ensued.
The man was pistol-whipped on the head and sustained injuries to his right ear and eye.
Three men then drove off in the couple’s Volkswagen Golf 4 station wagon . They took with them a handbag and a cellphone.
Police arrested the suspect at Swartklip Road, in Tafelsig, after a tip-off.
The suspect faces a charge of being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
In another incident, a 19-year-old man also faces a charge relating to hijacking after two men were forced out of their car in Spine Road on Saturday May 28, at 1.30am.
According to police, the man and his colleague were approached by two armed hijackers.
The suspect was arrested in Bietou Street, Eastridge, at 8.20am, when police were doing patrols and spotted the black Honda.
