Health centre implements social distancing

Christina Fredericks was at the Mitchells Plain Community Health Centre, better known as the day hospital, on Monday March 16.

Only groups of 20 people at a time are being allowed to access services at Mitchell’s Plain Community Health Centre (MPCHC) during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Social distancing has become mandatory to ensure patients’ safety, while accessing services at clinics and MPCHC.

Services available at MPCHC include trauma for emergencies and life-threatening conditions only; labour or birthing services as per booking scheduled at the maternity unit; antenatal care for first-time bookings and antenatal follow-up appointments are made at the MPCHC Maternity Unit; family planning; dermatology appointments made before the lockdown was initiated; mental health services; wound dressings for emergency and diabetic patients and referrals; immunisations as scheduled in the Road to Health Booklet; outpatient and chronic appointments previously given as scheduled with the doctor.

Booked dental services have been cancelled and only emergency dental care will be administered at Lentegeur Dental Clinic, Crossroads CDC and Hanover Park CHC.

For enquiries and bookings at MPCHC, call 021 370 0158; for reception, 021 392 8121; for the Maternity Obstetric Unit (MOU) and 021 370 0205 for the Trauma Unit.
