The South African Islamic Council of Madaaris (SAICOM) thanked the community for supporting their back-to-school programme through which they kitted out about 40 children in need, with school uniforms and stationery packs.
Sheikh Gasant Adams appealed to the community to continue supporting the organisation. “This was our first appeal and we would like to maintain our commitment to them,” he said.
“Remember they are our Jannah (heaven).”
SAICOM members attend weekly workshops hosted by Ihata Shelter for Abused Women and Children, covering teaching methodologies, organisational profiles, funding application, networking and guidance regarding referrals.
Sheikh Adams said this was SAICOM’s way of empowering communities through education and support.
