Mitchell’s Plain gardeners who are enjoying and sharing the benefits of working with the soil, met at Garden of Hope, in Westgate, to mark Garden Day on Sunday October 17.
Westgate gardener Natasha Johannes said being in a green environment in her backyard was very therapeutic.
“It keeps me sane. It allows me to breathe in some fresh air. It ensures food security and it makes me happy,” she said.
Lauretta Moodley, from Westridge, said her garden was her happy place and that it provided healthy sustenance for her.
“It is therapeutic,” she said.
