Four people were killed in a head-on collision on Morgenster Road near Swartklip on Monday March 21.
ER24 paramedics and local emergency services arrived on the scene around 10am when they found two women and a man, believed to be in their thirties, still trapped in a vehicle.
All three had sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing that paramedics could do for them. They were declared dead on scene.
ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said another man was found inside one of the vehicles with critical injuries.
“Local emergency services assisted the man on the scene. Unfortunately, he died en route to hospital. Another woman was found with serious injuries.
“She was extricated from the vehicle and treated for multiple fractures. Paramedics rushed her through to Grootte Schuur Hospital for further medical care.The exact cause of the collision is not yet known. Local authorities attended the scene,” he said.

When the police arrived, a 26-year-old man was already on the stretcher, having been shot as he tried to rob his victims at gunpoint.
One round of .38 special live ammunition and a black holster were found on the scene. The man has been kept under supervision of a hospital guard. He will appear in court after he is discharged from hospital.
