Police have arrested four suspects for the fatal shooting of three men in Lentegeur on Monday February 4.
It is alleged that the three deceased were standing in Marguerite Street at 10.20am when they were approached by unknown suspects who were on foot.
The suspects fired several shots, fatally wounding the three men aged 29, 31 and 35.
One of the deceased ran to a nearby street where he collapsed and died. The three men were declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang related, said Sergeant Jerome Voegt, Mitchell’s Plain SAPS spokesperson.
The four suspects, aged between 18 and 26, were arrested by the Anti-Gang Unit and will appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court once charged.
Police are also investigating the attempted hijacking of two women at the BP garage in Cedar Avenue, Westridge, on Friday February 1.
The women had stopped at the garage at 5.20am to withdraw money at the ATM.
While the one woman was busy at the ATM and the other was waiting in the passenger seat of the car, a white Ford Fiesta, two suspects climbed into the car.
They forced the passenger out of the car and sped off in the vehicle. The suspects are still at large.
