Two Mitchell’s Plain residents, one 14 and the other 26 years old, died after a shooting on the corner of Merrydale Avenue and Miami Way in Portland, around 11pm, on Tuesday November 29.
According to police, the two suspects had been driving a white Fiat Uno, with the registration number, CA 498 094, before stopping in Merrydale Avenue.
Mitchell’s Plain police spokesperson Captain Ian Williams said the suspects then walked through an alley into Miami Way and approached the victims from behind and started shooting at them.
“Both victims were shot in the head and then (the shooters) fled the scene in the vehicle. The 26-year-old passed away on the scene and the 14-year-old was admitted to hospital in a critical condition, but passed away the following day.
“The victims were not gang members. The motive for the attack is unknown. The registration plates were falsified,” Captain Williams said.
