The second instalment of The Unapologetic Fashion Show focused on “self-expression and individuality through fashion“.
It was held on Saturday September 30 at Rocklands High School Hall. Over 200 people attended the event, where 50 models showcased 12 local designers.
Theshow was created by Angelique Johannes, 36, from Rocklands, to highlight local designers. (“Rocklands woman makes bold fashion statement” Plainsman November 9 2022).
“The message of the show was to encourage self-expression and individuality through fashion, not conforming to society’s standards of beauty. Being unapologetic is sometimes controversial and offensive but being who you are is exactly who you are meant to be,” she said.
The featured designers came from different backgrounds and areas in the city. The collections on show were plus-size, street style, gender neutral, children and African designs, she said.
The youngest designer was Zoe Mullins, 18, a matriculant at Rocklands High School. Her debut collection, IYETRIP by ZOE, had a provocative crochet theme.
Another highlight of the evening was a collection called, VOGT by Andrea Williams who was a finalist in the first ever The Fix Designer Showcase.
“I was so honoured to have her at the show with an incredibly beautiful collection,” said Ms Johannes.
Other featured designs were by Figure 8 Clothing and Robin’s Creations.
