ENO is a global virtual school network for sustainable development launched at ENO Primary School in North Karelia, Finland. The network has spread to more than 10 000 schools in 157 countries.The environmental themes are studied through activities and global campaigns are arranged simultaneously around the world. ENO also extends learning to local communities. Currently there are 50 cities in 20 countries listed as members in the ENO Green Cities Network. Cities are committed to assisting schools in their environmental activities. This year’s ENO tree planting day was hosted by the City of Cape Town’s Parks Department. The trees that the department planted forms a part of this campaign, aiming to plant 100 million trees by 2017. The target is to plant nine million trees worldwide in 2016.
