Na-ilah Kippie runs an organisation called Read2Lead which was started in May 2019 to assist pupils from Grade 1 to Grade 12 with their reading, communication skills, life skills and to coach parents. Her son, Nieyaaz Kippie, provides the maths tutoring.
The pupils still require stationary, books and calculators to aid their learning.
“Some pupils experience issues at home and it may sometimes affect their learning. In a few weeks of tutoring their marks are kicking up and we’re seeing a positive difference. The tutoring is helping the pupils in a big way,” she said.
The mathematics tutoring is held every Saturday at 8am to noon at Masjiedur Rawbie Hall in Portland.
