Two men were arrested after they were caught allegedly stealing cables in the Town Centre area, Mitchells Plain on Thursday August 1.
Officers, who were patrolling the area, noticed an open trench with two men inside.
They went closer to investigate. They had to switch on their torches as it was dark at 3:50am. They saw the duo cutting railway signal cable with a hacksaw.
Both suspects aged 30 and 33 were immediately arrested and charged in terms of the Criminal Matters Amendment Act.
