Mitchell’s Plain residents have 10 days to donate books to local primary schools.
Books can be dropped off at Liberty Promenade Mall before Saturday September 18.
The campaign aims to collect 6 700 new and pre-loved books which will be donated to Eastville Primary, Eisleben Road Primary, Portland Primary, Searidge Park Primary, Spine Road High, and West End Primary – winners of Liberty Promenade’s Next Generation competition last year.
Shopping centre general manager Brenda Bibby said they would like to help expand the school’s already scarce library collections.
She said most of the books donated so far were suitable for high school pupils.
“The mall therefore calls on donations of books that are aimed at primary school learners between the ages of five and 13,” she said.
Books can be dropped off at the information desk or food court at the Promenade mall. There are also drop-offs at the domestic and international arrivals terminals at Cape Town International Airport.
