Health professionals from the Anova Health Institute spent the morning at the Mitchell’s Plain day hospital last Friday dispelling the myth that only women are affected by breast cancer and doing breast cancer checks .
The Anova team, supported by cancer survivors from Cansa Relay for Life, gave breast cancer awareness talks in a hospital waiting area. They also answered questions from patients while several cancer survivors spoke of their experiences.
Meanwhile, Strandfontein Young Ideas Senior Club held a cancer awareness programme at the Strandfontein civic centre last week, and representatives from the Anova Health Institute provided information on breast cancer and did breast cancer checks, while cancer survivor Kirsten Adams spoke about her experience with the illness.
