Award ceremony
Westridge Yankees softball and baseball club will be having its annual awards ceremony and celebrating its 25th anniversary, themed “A  night at the Oscars”, at Strandfontein high school hall on Friday May 4 at 7.30pm. Girl Guide reunion
Silversands District invites all former Girl Guides and Rangers to a reunion at the Girl Guide House, 27 Colosseum Road in Portland, on Friday May 4 at 7pm. They hope to launch the Silversands Trefoil Guild for women, aged 18 and older. Job readiness
The Zanokhanyo Network, a non-profit organisation, will be running a new set of classes as part of a job readiness programme from Tuesday May 2 at Cascade Primary School in Tafelsig. Through this 12-day course, which spans over three weeks, participants are equipped with the skills required to find and retain jobs. Karaoke and performance

Women’s Conference

Peres Ministries will be hosting a women’s conference, themed “Gracefully broke; more than a conqueror; I am victorious”, at the Pentecostal Protestant Church (PPC), in Walter Battis Street New Woodlands on Saturday May 5 at 2.30pm. Food fair
Christ the Mediator Anglican Church and Christ the Good Shepherd will be hosting their annual food fair at Portland Indoor sports centre on Saturday May 5 starting at 10am. Mykonos outing
Seniors on the Move will be going on a day trip to Club Mykonos, in Langeberg, on Saturday May 5. The bus will leave Westridge civic centre at 8am. Tickets cost R260, including a buffet lunch. Reunion
Westridge Senior Secondary School Alumni will be hosting a reunion and fundraiser “back to the 80s” party at Canvas event space, in Paarden Eiland, on Saturday May 5 at 6pm. Tickets cost R180. The focus of the event is to raise funds for the school, and to reunite matrics from 1980 to 1989. Special guests include, the principal, current matric teachers and matric teachers from the 80’s.
