MyCiTi commuters from Mitchell’s Plain and Khayelitsha, who have bought monthly packages for the N2 Express service, will be refunded as from today.
The refund will be immediate, and in cash.Â
City records show that 154 passengers from Mitchell’s Plain and Khayelitsha have bought monthly packages in advance.
These commuters are advised to visit the Zone 3 kiosk at the Civic Centre MyCiTi station in Cape Town where they will complete a refund form.Â
The refunds will be paid out at the Civic Centre station over the next two weeks, until Friday June 21.
The City says it cannot refund commuters at the MyCiTi kiosks in Khayelitsha and Mitchell’s Plain due to threats to the MyCiTi personnel and for security reasons.
Meanwhile, negotiations between the City and bus operating companies are ongoing.Â
Mayoral committee member for transport, Felicity Purchase, said: “I am hoping to make an announcement soon about when the service is ready to operate again.”
