Metro Police arrested a suspected chicken thief in Woodlands, Mitchells Plain, yesterday morning.
The officers, who were on patrol, noticed two men walking down the road pushing a trolley.
The goods in the trolley were covered with clothing. The officers decided to stop the men and investigate.
One of duo ran away. The second suspect also tried to get away, but was unsuccessful.
Metro Police spokesperson Ruth Solomons said: “When officers searched the trolley, they found 30 bags of chicken and a half dozen bags of potato chips. The goods were valued at R3000.”
It later emerged that the items were stolen from a fast food outlet in Westgate Mall.
