The Cape Flats YMCA team encouraged people to check their HIV status, on Saturday December 1, which marks World Aids Day.
The YMCA, at Town Centre, opened its doors to the public, offering free HIV/Aids testing. “The only way to know your status is to do an HIV test. Once you know your status you can take the necessary steps to stay negative, prevent HIV and live a healthy lifestyle. If the test is positive, get to a clinic or doctor to start with your treatment,” said Mivana Erasmus, the community health worker supervisor for Cape Flats Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA).
