New Woodlands residents living around Central Park, in Johannes Meintjies Road, celebrated the first year of building a better community for their children and neighbours.
Celebrations started with a fitness session by Reemay Damons in their new outdoor gym on Saturday October 9.
Community worker Gerald Scheepers said they want to reclaim the open spaces from anti-social elements so that they can become active public spaces.
He said the Aerials Association Football Club and a good sound system drew the crowds from all over.
“We want to have various activities in Central Park to encourage the youth to promote a healthy lifestyle,” said Mr Scheepers.
