An 18-year-old boy was arrested for possession of ammunition in Beacon Valley during a crime prevention unit patrol.
Police were on patrol in Bravo Street, Beacon Valley around 1.30pm on Tuesday September 14 when they stopped and searched the young man who his believed to be a gang member. Police found three live ammunition rounds on him and he was arrested on charges relating to the unlawful possession of ammunition. He is expected to soon appear in court.
In a separate incident, another boy, also aged 18, was arrested after he was found to be in possession of a homemade firearm.
Police stopped and searched the young man during a routine patrol by crime prevention unit members at Town Centre around 2.10pm on Sunday September 12.
When they searched him, police found a homemade firearm with two live rounds on him and he was arrested on charges relating to the possession of a homemade firearm. He appeared in court on Monday September 13.
