Supporting Mentorship Through Art (SMART) hosted a fun-filled family day titled “Beautifying the vandalism” at Wall Flower field, in Lentegeur, on Saturday June 8. Graffiti artist Rizah Potgieter, known as Prefix 66, who is also the co-founder, treasurer and director of arts for SMART, painted over the vandalised areas. Motivational speakers, artists and professionals shared their skills with the youth. SMART aims to boost poor communities teaching youth skills, which will help them be self-sustainable. Zeenat Isaacs, co-founder, chairperson, manager and coordinator, said youth who had been mentored by SMART in Tafelsig, walked to Lentegeur on Saturday to entertain the community. She said the community was taught to reclaim their space, from gangs. For more information about SMART, call Ms Isaacs on 074 256 3243 or Mr Potgieter on 074 074 3377
